Data, privacy, and limitations
XiaoQi is local-only. It does not connect to the internet, read what you type, or capture your screen.
Where your data lives

What XiaoQi does not access
- No network requests, accounts, or analytics SDKs.
- No keystroke content. Activity detection uses the system idle time.
- No screen recording, camera, microphone, contacts, location, or Accessibility permission.
- No purchases or subscriptions in the current version.
Uninstall
- Quit XiaoQi from the menu bar.
- Turn off launch at login in Settings.
- Delete
小憩锁屏.app. - Run:
defaults delete com.ziizko.macxiaoqi
rm -rf ~/Library/Logs/小憩锁屏
rm -rf ~/Library/Application\ Support/小憩锁屏
Known limitations
- Not a system lock. Force Quit, restart, and power off can bypass the overlay.
- Cmd+Tab can briefly switch away. XiaoQi pulls itself back within about a second, but it is not instant.
- Full-screen apps and multi-display hot-plug are not fully verified. The overlay is created per connected display; external-display hot-plug behavior still needs a real multi-screen test.
- The build is ad-hoc signed and not released. Distribution requires Developer ID signing and notarization.
- Sleep and lock behavior is limited. The rest countdown does not pause when the Mac sleeps or locks; a work stretch resets after ten minutes of sleep or lock.
- No system notifications in this version. The break is the overlay itself; pre-break notifications are planned for a later version.
- The interface is Chinese-only for now. This site documents the labels in English.
